SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
Tuition: $3,000 a semester. Books: $600 a semester. Student living: $800 a month. It seems like tuition and other educational costs are going up each semester causing us to really feel like “broke college students”. C’mon! We hardly have enough money left to go out Saturday night.
Well, Vice President Biden made a stop in the capital city this morning to talk to students about the rising cost of education. He wanted us to know what an important issue it was for the government to try and make education more affordable for us all.
Vice President Biden shared that President Obama’s administration is trying to provide more jobs for us. In turn, we would need the proper education in order to do the jobs properly. But, if education costs are too high, it limits the number of people that may attend college. That is why Biden says, that it is extremely important for them to make attending college more affordable, not only for us in Florida, but nation wide.
Obviously, the lower the price, the more people will attend. Currently, Biden says they are working on getting Congress to pass new reforms and work on the challenge of making college affordable for us poor students. Now, if these proposals are passed, it will make history because this will be the first time the federal government will have an effect on tuition. Hopefully, we will see changes in the near future before we all wind up under an endless pile of student loans.
