SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
1. Gordos -
I would be lying if I said this isn’t one of my all time favorite restaurants. If you’re in the mood for some killer Cuban food with an American twist, this is the place to go. Nothing is better than an authentic Cuban sandwich with french fries cooked to perfection, along with a mango iced tea. If it’s a nice day you could even try sitting at their tables outside, that way even your dog can tag along.

2. Wells Brother’s Bar and Grill -
This little burger joint is commonly known as “Monks” in Tallahassee. If you’re in the mood for some crazy, unique burgers (or chicken sandwiches) this is the place to be. Here they offer your traditional toppings, as well as some not so common ones like a fried egg, chicken salad, or even pineapple.
3. El Jalisco -
Besides the constant 2-for-1 margaritas offered practically all day every day, El Jalisco is, hands down, the best Mexican restaurant in town. It offers amazing food (and a lot of it) at a decent price. With daily food specials, including $2 quesadillas, who could pass this place up? And don’t forget, your table gets free chips and salsa every time.

4. Jim and Milt’s Bar B Q -
It can only be described as good ole’ homemade cooking at its finest! With only about two other BBQ restaurants in town, you’ll find that J&M’s is the place to be. Jim and Milt’s offers much more than what the name of the restaurant implies, including breakfast bright and early at 6:30 AM, and even better drink specials as the day goes on.
5. Lucy and Leo’s Cupcakery -
This locally owned business does not play around when it comes to cupcakes. With different flavors offered and baked fresh daily, this is the best place to satisfy your sweet tooth. Not only is it a bakery, but you can also browse around in the little gift shop while you wait, or even sit down to eat and enjoy the artwork that surrounds you.
