Portsmouth and Exeter Farmers’ Markets Return This Week

All you college foodies can rejoice- fresh vegetables and local foods are now back on the menu. No longer will you have to search through the aisles of your local grocery store, brow furrowed, trying to decide which strawberries look the most red, or which eggplant looks less bruised. Your goat cheese and herbs will be as fresh as you’d like them to be, straight from the farmers’ markets.

Exeter’s farmers’ market is held on Thursdays, beginning tomorrow. You can find it at Swasey Parkway from around 2:00 to 6:00 pm. The farmers’ market in Portsmouth is held on Saturday mornings, beginning this week on May 5th. It is located in the parking lot of City Hall from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm.

Each farmers’ market offers a little something in addition to deliciously fresh foods. The one in Exeter will be offering yoga classes, as well as knife sharpening during the month of May. So for those of you who can’t cut your fresh veggies with dull knives- this is the market for you. The market in Portsmouth offers lovely local music to shop to, which is also a definite plus.

If that isn’t enough to get you there, checking out the goods, think about the brainpower you can get from fresh fruits and vegetables. Perfect timing for the weekend before finals, I’d say.

Fill your belly and your mind at the same time. That’ll leave you just enough time for a nap before your final exams.
