SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
Looks like my article from a few days ago inspired some of you to action. At a forum on the Master Plan on Tuesday, major changes were made due to the unpopularity of the prospect of private businesses moving in on UNH turf. According to The New Hampshire, "Revisions to the plan were influenced by the negative reaction to the original proposal...The draft master plan no longer shows land that will be used in areas north of Main Street, including land encapsulated by Mast Road, Spinney Lane, O’Kane Road, and Route 4."
While this likely won't keep private businesses from cropping up in Durham, it will keep them off of our campus' front lawn. Good for you guys. It's heartening to see that we, as students and members of the Durham community, can collectively and peacefully challenge the administration when we don't see eye to eye. Now go and let the Wildcat statue sniff your hand for further good luck in this matter.

Thanks to Somat and UNHToday's Blog for the pics and Lloyd Cornell for tipping me off to the story
