Greenland Shootout Results In Death, Injuries
A shootout occurred in the town of Greenland on Thursday night. The event resulted in injury and death.
Multiple sources confirm that the deceased is Michael Maloney, the Greenland Police Chief. He was set to retire next week. At least four other officers were wounded in the shootout. The incident stemmed from a drug investigation done in 2010 involving anabolic steroids. Liquid and powder steroids were allegedly found in the home of Cullen Mutrie.
Thursday night, two drug agents entered the Greenland home of suspect Cullen Mutrie on a supposed drug raid. When the drug officials entered the home, they were fired upon by the suspect. Once it was known that the shooting involved police officers, enforcement from nearby towns arrived at the scene as backup.
Schools in the town of Greenland will be closed today, as law enforcement will be using them as a staging area.
