UNH is straight dominating the whale-saving game right now. According to Newswise, "Kurt Schwehr, affiliate assistant professor, research associate professor Lee Alexander, and research scientist Roland Arsenault, led key technical aspects of the WhaleALERT app launched last week." The trio are members of the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping, and the app works by sending information about the movement and location of endangered right whales to ships so they can avoid them.

Fantastic idea, and even cooler that they can implement it in this day and age. Now when people ask you where you went to school you can tell them, "I went to a school that saved endangered species on the reg. Where'd you go?" Boom roasted. Talk about bragging rights.
