SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
UNH's Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) team has won the regional championships for the northern New England area for the second year in a row. With a season consisting of eight competitions and 11 other teams like UVM, UMaine, UNE, Endicott, Dartmouth, Colby-Sawyer, Bates, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Colby, and Castleton State colleges, you can't help but say, "Go 'Cats!"

The equestrian competitions in the IHSA are unique, in that individuals participate in teams and travel to host schools to compete. The hosts provide all of the horses, and riders are randomly given mounts to compete on. This "catch" riding means that equestrians must rely on their personal skills, not the familiarity of their own horses, to win.
Seeing as the UNH squad receives no university funds and must fundraise on their own, unlike the other teams in their region, their victory is that much sweeter. Congratulations to the women on the UNH Equestrian Team.
