Although it's been around for a while, the Portsmouth Brewery is still one of the premiere restaurants in Portsmouth. Seriously, there's a reason why everyone on campus has that round yellow sticker with the beer mug on their laptop.

A few nights ago, I went to the Portsmouth Brewery with a group of friends for a birthday dinner. There were two men in the front vestibule checking I.D.s and opening the door for patrons, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, we ended up having to wait for over an hour for a table. To be fair, the place was packed and we did arrive pretty late, but waiting over an hour for a table is pushing the limits of customer decency. However, when we were seated, we got the huge conference-like table in the back of the restaurant pretty much all to ourselves.
There are smaller tables (and naturally, a bar) in the Brewery, as well as brewing equipment and machinery behind a glass wall that is lit with different colors. Service was fast and the food was good, although the portion sizes were a little crazy. I expected entrees to be pretty large, so I got an appetizer of nachos since I'd eaten before we got there. Instead, entrees were about medium size, while the nachos looked like this:

Needless to say, I needed to take it home with me. The beer selection was very good, including lists of the daily fresh beers and prices were also pretty reasonable. Overall, it was a great environment to just hang out and chat with friends over some food and brews, and I will definitely be returning. The Portsmouth Brewery is definitely worth your time if you ever find yourself hungry in the Portsmouth area.
All of this looks so familiar. Hmmmm :)
