I've finally recovered enough from my post-concert hangover to put words together about Avicii coming to Webster Bank Arena. Words cannot describe how amazing that concert was. I have never had more fun at a concert in my entire life. The floor was absolutely packed and sold out. First off, 22 people were hospitalized at the concert. According to local authorities it is the most hospitalizations to occur in recent memory. Way to represent Connecticut right guys.
What follows is my first person account of the event:
Walking into the Webster bank arena I was astonished at the amount of people going nuts. I was pretty drunk but also smart because I had thought ahead and sharpied "If dead please call xxx-xxx-xxxx" (my roommate's number) on my forearm. A single thought was in my head 'Get to the front.' DJ Paige, a local DJ from Long Island opened for the Swedish-Wonder-Child and put on not a bad show considering he was opening for Avicii. Some people say that his set was better then Avicii's but they are heathens and should be burnt at the stake for such heresy.
I'm still drunk at this point. In total wonder of the light shows going on around me. Some random guy in a blue shirt grabs me by the shoulders and declares that I am his boy. Promptly gets into a fight with random dude next to us until I break it up. Blue shirt proceeds to take out a joint and light up. At this point I love blue shirt.
Finally make it to the front guard-rail and manage to put a hand on it. Little did I know how much of an act of defience this was to the people on it. Guy next to me sees my hand and proceeds to try to break my grip on it with his shoulder. This guy is the definition of a douche. I look at him, smile and laugh manaicly for at this moment during my drunken stupor I decide that no matter what I will not let go of the rail. This was my Thermopylae and I would hold strong against all who wished to take it away from me.
Avicii comes on. Suprisingly not in his iconic flannel.
Place goes absolutely nuts. Random girl next to me goes nuts starts kissing my cheeks. Push her away. Bitches be getting in the way of Avicii. Bros before hoes. Fist bumping ensues. I am in my element. His music washes over me like some sort of healing waters. For a moment I am complete and nothing else matters. People all around me are going nuts.
Levels is played. Shit goes absolutely insane as people can't even fathom what is happening in front of them. Minds are exploding around me. Titanium comes on, people are screaming.
This was by far the greatest thing I have ever witnessed. Some of the songs I remember being played were All you Need Is Love, Titanium, Levels ft. Somebody I used to Know, NickTim, and Fade into Darkness. He also remixed a couple of never before heard songs that were out of this world. Hopefully all of us peasents can get a taste of them soon.
Below is a short video I took of Avicii coming on. It's a little bit of a cock tease I won't lie. The second one shows levels being played.
Wait, this title is sooo funny!
