The University of Virginia transfer, Billy Baron, has decided to cut ties with University of Rhode Island’s men’s basketball team. The guard averaged 13 points to go along with 2.6 assists per game in his lone season at URI appearing in only 20 games for the Rams.
The new head coach Dan Hurley had nothing but positive comments for the junior; “We wish Billy the best as he continues his college basketball career. We think the world of him as a player and a person,” according to GoRhody.com

It is easy to speculate that the firing of his father, Jim Baron, has had a major impact on his decision to leave the Rhode Island basketball program, but no official reason has been given at this point in time. It is also unknown which team Baron will feature on in the future.
