Election 2012: What's The Electoral College?

Ever wonder what the hell is the Electoral College?

Like daylight savings, the Electoral College made a ton of sense in the early days of the United States. It was an indirect method of voting when people lived miles apart with no way of getting anywhere other than a good ol' fashion horse and buggy.

Instead of everyone hopping on a wagon (and most likely dying of dysentery a la Oregon Trail), communities would send the most informed people to go vote for them.

That was then, this is now. It doesn't matter who gets the most votes, it only matters if the candidate can win the states with the largest amount of electoral delegates (essentially making some votes worth more than others).

Here is everything you need to know about the Electoral Colelge in one infographic. (click to enlarge). Do you think we should still be using the Electoral College.
