'Sorry I'm late professor, a mattress fell from 30 stories and knocked me out on the way to class'.

Kings College freshman Jesse Scott Owen can officially use that excuse after a futon mattress fell from nowhere (well really it fell from a building) and stuck Owen on his way to class. The blow knocked Owen out, sending him to the hospital. He is fortunately out of the hospital and happy to be alive.
When the accident happened pedestrians rushed to Owen's rescue. "This one man in particular kept his arm on me and would not take it off, as you can see in the picture. He took my wallet and phone and called my mother and gave my information to the police."
Owen recently moved the the Big Apple from Florida and said the accident was a "rite of passage".
