It’s happening. A third Bill and Ted movie is in the works. Vulture has announced that Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves will reprise their roles as the time-traveling stoners, Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted Theodore Logan.

Original Bill and Ted writers, Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson, are working on a script that place the title characters in the current day. Audiences will have the pleasure of seeing what the duo has been up for the last twenty-three years.

So far Matheson and Solomon plan for the threequel to be a lower-budget studio movie. Dean Parisot is slated to direct the movie. While the financing details are still being hammered out, Solomon and Matheson are finishing their horror-comedy Rapturepalooza. Parisot is currently finishing up RED 2.

As of now, no further details have been released.

Being an avid Bill and Ted fan (okay that’s an understatement...I can quote both movies in their entirety), this most excellent news raises many questions. Are they still married to the princesses? Is Wyld Stallyns still together? What about Rufus?

Whenever the threequel hits theaters, you’re guaranteed to find me at the midnight premiere sporting a Wyld Stallyns t-shirt and strumming my air guitar.
