SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
It seems every day I find myself asking my roommate: "bro, did you hear about so-and-so getting cast in such-and-such," "did you know this movie is finally getting made" or "do you think this guy will be a good Hulk?" Then I just get bummed out because nobody knows what I'm talking about and I'm left stupidly explaining it all to someone who really doesn't care. If this happens to you, never fear: direct your friends to SUMO for a weekly report on everything movies, every Wednesday from yours truly!
Jim Carrey Drops Out Of Dumb & Dumber Sequel

Big waves were made when it was announced that the Farrelly brothers wanted to make a new Dumb & Dumber with original cast members Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. I mean, who didn't want to put another shrimp on the barbie with these two? Sadly Carrey has backed out of production, citing lack of studio enthusiasm as his reason for departure. As much as I am disappointed, this could be a blessing in disguise. D&D is a masterpiece of comedy and a sequel could possibly destroy everything the original created (staring right into your soul, Hangover II). But on the other hand, it would have been awesome to see this duo back at it. I'm sure this movie will flip flop through production, so be on the lookout for more announcements in the future.
First Footage From Dredd Hits The Web
Judge Dredd. Sounds familiar, right? Back in 1995, Sylvester Stallone and Diane Lane starred in the movie adaptation of the comic book. "I AM THE LAAAAW." Exactly. While that film is good in a bad way, it certainly didn't live up to the expectations. So when I heard a new movie, Dredd, was being made with Karl Urban (Doom, Star Trek) in the title role, I got pretty giddy. After some sparse set photos and plenty of rumors, we got our first (albeit short) preview of the movie.
It looks pretty sweet from those ten seconds we got. Never fear though, a trailer is expected to release some time tomorrow. Due out in September, Dredd looks to revitalize the character and take advantage of the current boom in comic book movies. So far, so good!
Gary Oldman Hates Athletes Who Act
Athletes have to face the music: fame does not equal acting. Just because you can dunk, hit homeruns, or rush for 1,000 yards does not mean you can survive in Hollywood. And you know what? Gary Oldman is pissed about it too.
This is why Gary Oldman is one of my favorite actors of all-time. Not only is he incredibly talented; he is downright hilarious. And of course, kudos always due to Jimmy Kimmel for coming up with awesome clips.
