Adidas' JS Roundhouse Mids Cause Major Controversy
Too soon Adidas, too soon.
Adidas is set to launch their new JS Roundhouse Mids in August, equipped with a pair of bright orange "shackles" that fit around the ankles. The shoes were released on Adidas Originals' Facebook page (which has over 14m fans) June 14th and quickly got a lot of negative buzz.
Already blogs and message boards have linked the shoes to prison restraints and 19th Century slave shackles.
In just days the image of the new shoes has received over 2,000 Facebook comments mostly exclaiming how “offensive” and “ignorant” the shoes are. Many comments also claim the company has “sunk to new lows” and branding the shoes “slavewear”.
