It was that obvious to Dutch artist Bart Jansen, because that is exactly what he did. 

When his rather appropriately named cat Orville was hit by a car Janson had the cat stuffed then had his friend Arjen Beltman attach a specially-designed flying mechanism to the cat.

Jansen said Orville is “flying with the birds… Oh how he loved birds. He will receive more powerful engines and larger props for his birthday. So this hopping will soon change into steady flight.”
