Eden Hazard has announced he is joining Chelsea FC via twitter. In a soccer first, Hazard took to his twitter account yesterday evening and tweeted “I’m signing for the champion’s league winner.”

English clubs Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City were all after the Belgian playmaker, but he looks set to be joining London club Chelsea after his announcement via twitter. 

Chelsea will be reportedly paying his current club Lille OSC £32million (about 50 million dollars) for his services and offering him in excess of £100,000 per week after tax. 

Hazard is one of soccer’s hottest properties and he was in scintillating form last season in France’s Ligue 1, scoring 20 goals and making 15 assists. He has also won the French League's "Player of the Year" for the last two seasons.

This is the first high profile transfer to be announced via twitter and it will be interesting to see if it becomes a trend in soccer transfers.
