SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
Ellen's Heart and Soul, a non-profit that benefits cancer patients and their families, is excited to announce a summer skate and culture festival called “Kick It! Summer Skate Festival 2012” in collaboration with Boardwalk Skate Park and luxury loungewear company Miles High to raise awareness for the organization and its initiatives. The day-long indoor/outdoor event will be held on June 23, 2012 at the Boardwalk Skate Shop in Woburn, MA and will fuse music, skateboarding, food, and art.
Two competitions will proceed throughout the day. The first will be a unique photography contest in which entrants can register at any time during the event, shoot photographs over the course of the day, and upload their shots to be displayed instantly on screens for voting. The winner's photograph will then be included in the post-event press package.
The second competition is a skateboarding contest divided into two age categories: Youth and Adult. Just before the competition, the skate park will unveil a new obstacle that skaters will have to incorporate. The winner of the Youth category, ages 12 and under, will claim a prize package; the winner of the Adult category will take home a $500 cash prize. A prominent skate team, to be announced at a later date, will also perform a demonstration.
The day will be scored by a Boston-based national band and local DJs will perform sets during free skates. Local food vendors will also be on site to feed hungry guests and graffiti artists will entertain patrons of all ages.
Admission to the public is free and more details will be released as the event nears.
SUMOskinny will be one of the sponsors at the event so come hang out at our tent and kick-it with the SUMO Team.
