After a long and hard fought quarterfinals series against the Washington Capitals, the Boston Bruins were defeated in an overtime goal by Joel Ward.
Coming off a big road win in Washington, the Bruins were home again in the infamous TD Garden, but even the home advantage was not enough to advance the B's in the winner-take-all game 7.
Feeling the heat from the roars of Boston fans, the Capitals struck early with a goal in the first period. It wasn't until half way through the second that Tyler Sequin answered with a diving goal to tie up the game. But that was all she wrote for Boston as the Capitals' Joel Ward sunk the puck into the back of the net during the fourth sudden death overtime of this series.
The goal ended a great season for the B's and advances the Capitals to the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. It also means a new champion will carry the Stanley Cup this year.
Poor Bruins.
