Does it seem likes your cardio exercises alone aren't getting you the results you desire? If your current regiment doesn't seem to be working, and your abs are barely noticeable, you might want to consider changing things up a bit.
Although cardio is great, cardio alone isn't enough to get that definition we all want. If you incorporate a few weights into your routine you will begin to see the difference. The addition of weights to your routine will boost your workout in more ways than you think. The more muscle you have, the more fat you burn. Even when resting, a person with more muscle will burn more calories. Another reason your cardio may not be working is because you’re not going long enough. If you really want to see those results add an extra 15 minutes to your cardio routine in order to boost the fat burning process. Speaking of burning fat--Did you know that muscle burns more calories than fat? If you start out with a few weights your body will be in fat-burning mode. You don't even have to lift heavy weights.
An easy way to incorporate weights at the beginning is by implementing a circuit or interval training session. These types of workouts not only build muscle, but they also burn calories and get your heart pumping. You’re still getting the cardio (aerobic exercise) you want while building the necessary muscle mass to help burn more fat and calories. Whenever you’re doing a combination of cardio and weights you should lift weights before you engage in vigorous cardio, so that you preserve your muscles before the aerobic exercise. Cardio uses a lot of energy and muscle mass tends to go before fat.
When it comes to abs, treat them like any other muscle. Don’t overwork your abs—don’t do abdominal exercises every day. Your abs need time to repair just like every other muscle. Besides, the trick to get your abs noticed at the beach is to lower your body fat. So , get in the gym and spend some extra time in the cardio section for the best results.
