Acne Not Just For Teen Girls

Ladies, in case you thought your days of red mountaintop pimples were a distant memory of your teens (along with starting your period for the first time and being teased about the metal compiled in your mouth to transform your teeth from rocky road to smooth sailing) are over, think again.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, studies show that women 20-50 years old are more likely to have pizza faces.

Great. Seriously?

What makes this study even more alarming are the statistics that back up this shocking discovery. According to the study, over 50 percent of women 20-29 fight acne (isn't that prime age women are supposed to get married and have kids?) and 25 percent of women 40-49 (isn't that right before menopause?).

What could possibly be worse than this news? Men are less likely to combat acne, which is funny because they're typically one of the stressors that lead to women's connect-the-dot faces. Go ahead men with your perfect skin, eyebrows, and eyelashes. We’re still better than you.

When I look in the medicine cabinet in my bathroom, I have a Morning Burst cleanser, which is supposed to make going to work a little less dreadful, a blackhead cleanser, and an acne cleanser - all with exfoliating beads, of course.

But I'm not done.

I also have black soap meant to strip my face of everything bad and a complexion soap to even the tone of my skin. Finally, I have a moisturizer with a SPF of 15 and a fade cream for those acne marks that never leave with the pimple. And I can't forget about my acne repair ointment to "zap" my zits overnight. Find more tips that work for you.

So basically, what this study is telling me is I will continue buying face-clearing products on a trial-and-error basis only to change cleansers every six or so months because you know, you can't use the same product for too long or it'll stop working. Maybe by the time I'm 30 Proactiv will actually clear my skin, but until then, Clean & Clear does the job for me. What product do you trust most?
