Sardegna Saga Pt. 4 - San Teodoro

A month into the trip Marco and I had gotten a little tired of seshing on our own. Empty beach after empty beach was nice for photo shoots, but It sometimes got a bit lonely.  We had accomplished a lot in the last month. Got most of the shots we where searching for, and I had finally worked out all the kinks from my limited gear issues. My favorite quick fix was to protect my gear from the salt spray and waves by saran wrapping the hell out of it. It was cheap and fast, but looked rather ghetto.

During a weekend we decided we needed a break from our solitude situation in La Maddalena. There was a kite competition in San Teodoro, a town on mainland Sardegna a few hours drive away. Some of Marco's kiting friends would be there, so we decided that it would be best for us to join them.

After a day of traveling through beautiful Sardinian country side and managing not to get lost, we arrived in the beach town of San Teodoro. The first night was spent partying on the beach. In case you were in doubt at all, the life of a professional athlete does rock. Not only are all the pro's needs taken care of, but the event organizers throw insane parties for them to unwind at once the day of surfing is over. What a hard life it is for them eh?

So anyway, we spent the evening having a blast on the beach. Imagine a huge packed concert, like the kind you'd see at the House of Blues. But take that, and spread all 300-400 kids over a beach with a bonfire and a huge stage. Pretty incredible. After the nights shenanigans had ended it was time for sleep. Where where marco and I to stay? Since his company wasn't there representing, or taking care of marco for that matter… it was the car. One sleeping bag nest later and we where passed out, knees to our chests in the tiny Lancia that had trucked our asses all the way from Rome. Yet another use for the car: mobile beach hotel.

The next day's forecasted morning wind didn't show up until mid day. Two surfers I had been hanging out with the previous day; riders for Kiteloose; Antoine Auriol and Hugo Guies made it out for a afternoon session. It was a short one, but I got a few shots worth showing. That night we went to another ridiculous party. This time at a huge villa / restaurant thing. Marco stole a gigantic blow up Chupa Chupps loll pop (like a dum-dum). And we spent yet another night nested in our car. After that we decided to call it quits. It was time for real beds.
