We all have that one Disney Channel Original Movie we remember and love, but why do we watch it so many years later?

1.) Amazing Dialogue- Looking back about a decade later, the dialogue in DCOM’s were not the greatest. However, this is one of the best reasons to watch, today. The simple, yet lame dialogue is just too funny. Especially with made up dialogue from Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, like “zedis lapedis!”
2.) Great Music- Whether it be generic movie music or not, the music never seems to fail in DCOM’s. Think back to Smart House with songs like, “Jump, Jump (The House is Jumpin’) or Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century with “Supernova Girl (Zoom Zoom Zoom).” I bet you’re searching the songs on YouTube right now. (I did.)
3.) Fantastic Plotlines- DCOM’s always have to have some sort of ridiculous plot twist in order to be successful. The Thirteenth Year was probably one of my favorite plot twists. Just your average thirteen-year-old boy going through puberty, except instead of puberty, he’s changing into a merman. Like, growing a tail, scales, all of that. Classic.
4.) Teaches a Lesson- You can’t have a DCOM without some sort of moral at the end of the story, lesson or triumph. With movies like Luck of the Irish, for example, I guess you could say everyone overcomes adversity…or in some cases, being an actual leprechaun.
5.) Brings Us Back to the Good Old Days- Of course, one of the many reasons why Disney still airs DCOM’s (and why we still watch them) is for nostalgic reasons. I know that I have to watch Halloweentown every October, or it’s just not the same.
I was so excited watching Smart House because there is a girl named "Gwen" in it :)
hahahahaha i'm very sad to admit that i remember Supernova Girl from back in the day... and Smart House was definitely a fave.
