SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
Raylan is enjoying a live band at his local bar while Quarles and Duffy drive Gary out to Winona's house. Quarles shoots him in the chest, killing him on the front lawn.

Quarles meets Limehouse, who introduces himself and tells him Boyd is backing Shelby against Sheriff Napier. Raylan's landlord tells him he saw someone fooling around with Raylan's trunk, but Raylan finds nothing missing. He then gets called to the scene of Gary's murder, where it is suggested that he is a suspect.
The FBI agent, Barkley, meets up with AUSA David Vasquez, the attorney who was looking into Raylan's shootings from Season 1. Barkley convinces Vasquez to help him out in his investigation of Raylan. Tanner meets up with Quarles, who takes him back.
Winona appears at the office and Raylan breaks the news of Gary's death to her. Art tells Raylan his fingerprints are on the bullet casing used to kill Gary. Raylan explains to the detectives how he tossed a bullet at Wynn Duffy to make a point. Duffy and Quarles are questioned in the Marshall's office, where both deny Raylan's story and cast him in an overall dirty light.

Sheriff Napier gets ready to go to work, but his car explodes prematurely. He goes to Boyd's bar and promptly arrests him for the bombing attempt. The detectives question Winona and reveal that Gary was behind the hitmen aiming to kill her and Raylan last season. Raylan realizes the murder weapon may have been planted in his trunk that morning. Barkley and Vasquez show up to question Raylan about being dirty.
Barkley accuses Raylan, and in a sideways manner Art, of being corrupt. Napier calls a news crew to show up before walking Boyd into the police station, to discredit Shelby's backer in his run for Harlan Sheriff. Tim shows up to bring Raylan to the detectives waiting downstairs. Raylan convinces Tim to let him off downstairs so he can check his car instead, where the cops find nothing out of the ordinary.

Winona finds the gun at her house, and hands it off to Raylan elsewhere. Napier returns to his office to find Tanner waiting, who bombed Napier's car to frame Boyd for his attempted murder (with his knowledge). Ballistics come back negative on Raylan's gun, but the case remains open. Barkley, for not revealing the source of his tip on Raylan's being dirty, has to back off of Raylan's case, according to Vasquez.
Tonin lets Quarles know that his plan to frame Raylan has failed and that he no longer has the backing of the Detroit mob. Quarles almost shoots him, but Tonin talks him out of it. Raylan goes to Quarles' empty house to find Duffy painting the torture room, where Raylan makes fun of him for becoming Quarles' lackey and lets him know he has the murder weapon. The episode closes with a despairing Quarles taking an Oxy pill and meeting Limehouse in Harlan to discuss a more official alliance.
