Drink Yourself Skinny On Super Bowl Sunday

Unless you are one of the rare women that actually watch football, Super Bowl Sunday does pretty much whatever it can to overlook all females of America. Everything from the beer, to the swearing, to the insanely caloric food choices, a woman that wants to maintain her morals and waistline on Super Bowl Sunday is susceptible to being extremely disillusioned. When I found this recipe for a no-fail Super Bowl cocktail for the woman not willing to put her conscience aside just for a football game that she most likely will not watch (unless you count the half-time show), I had to share it.

To keep up the spirit of the holiday, this cocktail was named the Skinny Beer-garita (clever, I know). To maintain the “skinniness” of the Skinny Beer-garita, the recipe recommends making your own limeade (instead of the frozen limeade you get in the grocery store). Also, use a low-cal beer in the cocktail like MGD 64 if you’re really feeling guilty.

Here are your ingredients:

2 cups frozen limeade (recipe below)

2 bottles of light beer (ex: MGD 64)

½ cup of Skinny Girl margarita mix

Limeade:

1 cup fresh lime juice + 2 limes for zesting

1½ cups water

1½ cups Splenda sugar blend

To make the limeade:

Zest two limes.  In a large saucepan, combine water, Splenda and lime zest and heat until Splenda is completely dissolved.  Remove from heat and allow to cool at room temperature.  Stir in lime juice and freeze your limeade concentrate until ready to use.

To make the beer-garitas:

In a pitcher, combine frozen limeade, 2 beers and 1/2 cup of tequila.  Place pitcher in the freezer overnight until frozen through, then mix so that it is in slushy form and serve. Enjoy!

That is a joke, right?
