Apparently every year the white house has a contest where people can submit questions to ask the president (by video or text).  The questions then get voted on by the citizens and the top voted questions go straight to Mr. President himself.

This year, the top voted video question submission came from retired LAPD Chief of Police Stephen Downing, and asks about the Marijuana legalization, and the war on drugs in general.

Good points he raises.  The main thing to take note of is the recent change in public opinion on the legalization of Marijuana.  In recent months, polls on the public opinion of legalizing marijuana have shown that the majority of americans are in favor of legalization.  This is the first time the majority has favored legalization, which is a big step for the push towards legalization.  

Obama is set to answer the questions tonight, Monday January 30th in his Google hangout at 5:30pm.
