Bernie Fine, Syracuse's assistant basketball coach, has been fired by the university for allegedly molesting three boys years ago.
"At the direction of Chancellor Cantor, Bernie Fine's employment with Syracuse University has been terminated, effective immediately," university spokesman Kevin Quinn announced.
Fine has been with Syracuse for 36-years, a record in his division.
One of the accusers, Bobby Davis, was a ball boy for Syracuse when he was in the seventh grade. Davis said this is when the abuse began.
In 2002 Davis recorded a tape of a phone call he had with Fine's wife, Laurie Fine. The phone call, Davis says, was to help strengthen his allegations, and help his allegations be taken seriously.
A ladies voice on the tape, now identified as Laurie Fine, said the following, "I know everything that went on, you know. I know everything that went on with him... Bernie has issues, maybe that he's not aware of, but he has issues ... And you trusted somebody you shouldn't have trusted."
Maybe it's just me but it seems like Mrs. Fine is blaming Davis of the whole thing by trusting Fine. Davis sent this tape into ESPN yesterday and the threads began to unravel from there.
