Maine seems to have everything going for them this season, as they managed to stop a late surge by the Rhode Island Rams, ending the game 27-21 in favor of the Black Bears. URI began a rally late in the game facilitated by second string quarterback Robert Bentsen, who replaced an injured starting quarterback Steve Probst. Bentsen was impressive, throwing 2 touchdowns completing 11-17 passes, while also throwing an interception late in the 3rd quarter. Despite the interception, Bentsen’s passing game was impressive and the Rams may look for him in the near future, depending on the seriousness of Probst’s injury.
The Rams fall to a disappointing 1-5 while Maine remain undefeated in conference play with their only loss being to Pittsburgh, leaving them at 5-1. Rhode Island will look to turn things around next weekend as Delaware visits for the homecoming game – Sumoskinny will be tailgating before the game so come out, drink some beers and eat some delicious hot dogs with the crew!
