SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
Back in March, the temperature shot up and the big news on the street was that Burlington beat record highs. This magical weather prompted a mass influx of beer-sippin’ college kids to flood the shores of North Beach. Unfortunately, the beach’s bathrooms were not yet open and local officials got a little angry with people emptying their bladders in public. Well, fast forward a month or so and guess what friends? No more tree peeing for you. Praise the lord the North Beach toilets are finally running.

Though North Beach itself won’t officially be open until May 1st, Burlington Parks and Recreation have in fact just opened up the North Beach bathrooms. We’re going to go ahead and take that as a sign to fully enjoy generous amounts of bronzing, boozing and private potty sessions. In addition to joining the masses at the famous Burlington watering hole, the following spring/summer activities will take you from poser status to true Vermonter.
Hike Mt. Philo – At about 20 minutes up and 20 minutes back this is the easiest hike you’ll ever do.
Get a cremee at Burlington Bay Market – Yes. It is called a cremee. You’re in Vermont. Get over it. I strongly recommend the maple and black raspberry twist.
Check out SpringFest at UVM - Chill with the likes of Soulive, Dillon Francis and UVM Battle of the Bands winner Sloe Loris on the UVM green. Doors open at 1:30 pm this Saturday, April 21.

Go cliff jumping at Oakledge, Red Rocks or North Beach - Word of advice, go in the evening and watch the insanely gorgeous sunset over the water.
Split a Ben and Jerry's Vermonster - Grab six to sixteen pals (depending on appetite) and conquer the forty-scoop ice cream sunday bliss. Extra points if you don't throw up afterwards.
Partake in Jazzfest 2012 - An entire week of Burlington Jazz live on Church Street. Yes, it's as awesome as its sounds.
Now, this is just a start of course. Have any other Burlington-based summer fun activities in mind? Leave a comment and let us know.
