Cheap, Chic, And You Can Tell Everyone “It’s Vintage:” Buffalo Exchange

If you’re a fan of scoring trendy goods for minimal cash, head to Buffalo Exchange at 180 Harvard Ave. in Allston (or call 617-779-7901) or at 238 Elm St. in Davis Square in Somerville (617-629-5383). This buy/sell/trade vintage mecca strikes a fine line, a place where you can find pieces from Free People, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and Allsaints Spitalfields that aren’t overpriced. Buffalo Exchange is the hipster lovechild of Second Time Around and Goodwill, and the shoe selection is one of the best in a Boston vintage shop. Shop here to try trendy pieces that you wouldn’t want to blow a whole lot of money on, in case you decide it doesn’t work for you; though more likely you’ll just be overwhelmed by the sheer retail bliss of a good deal.

Selling clothes here can also turn out to be profitable, though guys’ clothes are easier to sell. They tend to be picky with women’s apparel. The store offers a price for each piece you sell, and gives 50% store credit or 30% cash. Pretty good for the pieces that were sadly gathering dust in your closet.
