SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.

New Year Resolutions often include some form of getting our ass in gear. This usually means getting skinnier, stronger, healthier…the list goes on.
If The Ring Boxing Club doesn’t get you where you want to be, I don’t know what will. Located at 971 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston, The Ring seems like a hole-in-the-wall place. Tucked between a bar and Goodwill, most passerby wouldn’t notice it. However, if you’re brave enough to walk up the seemingly endless flight of stairs and check the place out, you will immediately be blown away. The facility holds two full-sized boxing rings and punching bags hang everywhere. People among you are either training for a match, screaming at those who are training for a match, or just plain sweating their ass off.
Zero boxing experience is needed and the age-range of members goes from eight to eighty, so stop lying to yourself saying that Yoga and Pilates will do the job. One class at The Ring and you will be forever devoted.
