After one of the most epic late season crashes by the Boston Red Sox in September, it was time for new management. With both Epstein and Francona gone, it was time for a "new voice" in the management office.

Boston now has just that, Bobby Valentine has been selected as the new Red Sox manager. Valentine will certainly be a new voice for the Sox with his blunt, cocky and sometimes controversial manors. When he was manager for the Mets he was ejected from the game and returned to the dugout shortly after wearing a fake mustache and sunglasses (see photo above).
Valentine might have a controversial manor but very few question his baseball and coaching skills. Valentine led the Mets to consecutive playoff appearances including the 2000 World Series where they lost to the New York Yankees. Valentine also managed the Japanese team Chiba Lotte Marines to a championship in 2005.
Valentine will have some big shoes to fill with Francona leaving. Francona lead the Sox for eight years including two World Series titles. I guess we will just have to see what decisions Valentine makes and not be too quick to judge.
