Happy 75th Birthday, Golden Gate Bridge!
One of the most recognized and loved landmarks in the nation celebrates 75 years of awesomeness today (May 27th, 2012).
The Golden Gate Bridge, which I was disappointed to learn at a young age is not actually golden, will be bustling with activity today to commemorate having been around for three-quarters of a century.
One special occurrence for the occasion are the “birthday candles” that are actually mirrors that will sit atop each tower and give the appearance of flickering like real candles. This is sure to be quite a special event! I can’t wait to see what is done for the big 1-0-0.
