SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
Any college student or teen can attest to the fact that 1) phones constantly get lost/stolen/damaged, and 2) the subsequent phoneless-ness is a total drag. So if your dad is a cop, with tons of resources at his disposal to get you your beloved iPhone back, do you take advantage?
Berkeley Police Chief Michael Meehan was all about it, and used ten investigators to search for his son’s phone, which was allegedly stolen from his locker.
While I kind of envy the kid for having so many people helping him out, clearly this cop is misusing his power and taxpayer money… not to mention the fact that they didn’t even find the phone.
Meehan is in hot water for this action, and could definitely be fired. However, he defends his actions, saying “it was worth it.”My only concern is, if this dad becomes unemployed, how will he buy his son a new iPhone?
