Some San Francisco bars will be experimenting with the latest facial detection technologies over the weekend with Scenetap, the Austin-based party starter app.
The social networking app relies on a software to recognize the number of people at a particular venue in addition to a few details concerning the bargoers.

Sensors placed inconspicuously throughout the bar will record the age and gender or the people entering so that scenetap users are able to base their choice of venue on “either how crowded it is, the male to female ratio or the age range” according to CEO Cole Harper
Some are calling it creepy; I feel it to be a benign form of voyeurism, but a useful one at that.
The 25 bars launching the app this weekend are:
• Bamboo Hut
• Bar None
• Comet Club
• Eastside West
• Fluid Ultra Lounge
• HiFi
• Kozy Kar Bar
