SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
There is a new standard in college athletics.
The UConn Women’s Basketball team defeated Florida State yesterday, 93-62, to become the new owners of the all-time NCAA wins record. This victory marked the team’s 89th consecutive win. John Wooden’s UCLA (men’s) basketball team was the previously holder of the record, which had gone unrivaled since 1974.
Head coach Geno Auriemma and the Lady Huskies have not lost a game since April 6, 2008. The team returned to action on November 16th of that same year – and have been throwing “W”s up on the board ever since. Included in this win streak have been two National Championships.
UConn looks to continue the streak when they face Pacific on Tuesday, December 28th.
Congrats, ladies!
