Amidst the recent allegations of sexual abuse, the PSU board of trustees have fired Joe Paterno from his long-standing position as head coach of the Lions, as well as university president Graham Spanier.
If you have not been following the story, or live under a rock, Penn State has been rocked by sex abuse allegations against assistant coach Jerry Sandusky. The charges state he molested eight boys over a span of 15 years, some of the instances even taking place at the school's prestigious football complex. According to reports, Paterno was approached in 2002 by current assistant coach Mike McQueary when he witnessed Sandusky showering with a 10-year-old boy. Since Sandusky was charged, Penn State's AD Tim Curley and VP Gary Schultz have both been charged with failing to report the crime to authorities.
