SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
The end of summer is never easy. School is starting back up, the days are getting shorter, and colder weather is moving in. While you are putting away your bathing suit, drown your sorrows in the best thing fall has to offer, pumpkin beer. I don't know what it is, but everything tastes better in pumpkin flavor.
Here are some beers to check out:
1.) Shipyard Pumpkinhead
Straight out of Maine, this beer is highly anticipated all year long. It contains hints of pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg. It is the perfect beverage while eating a slice of pumpkin pie. Release parties for this awesome beer having been occurring already around New England. Just recently Boston's own The Greatest Bar threw a release party and is now selling the beer.
Shipyard also offers Smashed Pumpkin which is a much stronger pumpkin ale.

2.) Dogfish Head Punkin Ale
This Delaware beer is named after some crazy event that happens every year, "Punkin Chunkin." It's just what the name implies. It is a contest to see who can throw a pumpkin the farthest. The latest record to beat is 4,000 feet. Attending this event just got added to my bucket list. Anyways, the beer is brewed with real pumpkins and brown sugar. The first time I had this beer I was in Salem, MA. It fit the time and place perfectly.
3.) Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale
This is another New England beer from New Hampshire. It is a smooth beer full of flavorful spices. The pumpkin flavor isn't as strong in this beer, but it is still like fall in your mouth.

4.) Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale
This beer is a sweet and spicy combination that mixes together pumpkin, cloves, and nutmeg. Blue Moon claims the, "Taste will remind you of pumpkin pie."
