SUMOskinny magazine is the ultimate guide to college life. Part local, part national, and all college.
It comes but once a year, and it's the best day of all. Yes dood, 4/20. There is nothing that could keep me from being anything but happy on 4/20. Even before I participate, I'm still beaming the whole day. Consider it my new Christmas. I think of fellow heads who I hold near and dear to my heart, probably have some Skype toke's with the long distance onces. It's great.
There's a lot of mystery as to where 420 came from. I was always under the impression that 420 started because it's the police code for Marijuana. Some say it's because that's how many chemical components there are in Marijuana. Other's believe it's some number in a Led Zeppelin song. So I set out to do a little research and lay this question to rest, only to find out that all of those reasons, are in fact: wrong.
420 started with a group of 5 high schoolers from San Rafael, California. The group were known potheads, and often hung out at a wall outside of the school, landing themselves the name "The Waldo's". One day, the boys caught word that a Cost Guard employee could no longer tend to his Marijuana crop, and they planned to find it and snatch some bud.
The Waldo's made plans to meet at 4:20 and set off on their journey. When reeferreing (heh) to their hunt, they would just call it "4:20". They never found the weeds, but they did find themselves a great new code-word for the great sticky icky.
You can read the full 4/20 story here, to find out more about how the term spread.
So have fun today kids, in whatever celebrations you may have planned. For those of you participating, here are a few of my favorite burn songs.
Three 6 Mafia - Sippin on Some Sizzurp
Dr. Dre - Xplosive (ft. the late great Nate Dogg)
And, of course
Enjoy today, hope your spirits are lifted ;)
