Not to get anyone too excited…but it was recently announced that Nintendo basically re-envisioned the groundbreaking Goldeneye007 videogame for the Wii system. For those who had social lives from 1997 – 2000, Goldeneye 007 was the revolutionary first person
shoot (or FPS) that was released on August 25th, 1997. It the set the precedent for all for all FPS games from there on out (i.e. Perfect Dark, Halo, and Call of Duty). To put it in nerd speak Doom may started the FPS revolution but GoldenEye 007 perfected it.
There hasn’t been too much news being leaked on many major changes, which will delight many purists of the game. Though here are a few noted points that might interest you:
-The biggest noticeable change is that Daniel Craig has replaced Pierce Brosnan as the “James Bond” of this game. The main story line will not be altered, but it was noted that there were slight tweaks so that it makes sense that Daniel Craig’s “James Bond” is leading the charge.
-If you were a fan of the original Nintendo 64 controller when playing, sadly they haven’t made an exact replica for the Wii…but the Wii Classic Controller should be a good replacement.
-The fan favorite “Klobb” is no more…it has been replaced by the “Klebb”, which apparently was named after a James Bond villain.
-The multiplayer will be a big sell for this game. Not only will has on-line capability been added but most the old favorites will be returning (i.e. Paintball, Deathmatch, and Golden Gun).
Overall it seems that Nintendo has a huge hit already on its hands and the remake of Goldeneye 007 isn’t even due out until November 2010. My only wish is that they somehow incorporate this little knick-knack into the game…and maybe a martini. Shaken, not stirred of course.
Until the next time fellow nerds.
Keep on, Keepin’ on…
